It's important to show compassion and care for others, but ask yourself - do you extend yourself that same kindness? We live in a society that markets bubble baths and spa days as the go-to activities for caring for yourself. While we are advocates for a nice spa-day and a bubbly bath, we also have to acknowledge that it's deeper than that. Here are 5 simple ways to care for yourself today.

1. Unplug

We take in so much information throughout the day and we don't even realize it. All of the information we take in has an effect on us. Social media has its benefits, but it also causes some great harm. Most often people are only posting their best moments in the highlight reels of social media, yet we find ourselves comparing our whole lives to a 15 second highlight reel or post. STOP! Dedicate time to break away from social media and allow yourself to focus on the beauty of the moments you've created.

2. Read A Book

Get lost in a good book. The act of reading encourages a sense of peace and imagination. There is no excitement that can compare to the suspense of turning the pages of a book and wondering about what's happening next. 3. Create a Cozy Space

Pick a space in your home and create a space just for you. Build a space that feels warm and inviting that encourages relaxation or maybe serves as a place to retreat when times get tough.

4. Treat your inner child

Adulting can be so overrated sometimes. Embrace your inner child with little presents that remind you of a time where bills didn't exist. Grab some sidewalk chalk and hook up a hopscotch game on the sidewalk. Pick some flowers. Do something that brings you some joy and brings back feelings of nostalgia.  

5. Get your rest

Never underestimate the power of a good nap. Sleep restores your energy, allows you to recharge and feel refreshed. Whether it's a quick power nap or a restful hour-long nap, enjoy it and be intentional about getting all your good rest.

⭐Bonus⭐ Don't abandon your bath and shower routine. There is something so peaceful and relaxing about being in the water.
